The mixed choir "Bass G" attached to František Palacký Gymnasium in Valašské Meziříčí was founded in the year of 1992. PhDr. Jana Krcháková, who graduated from the Faculty of Arts (Department of Musicology) at Masaryk University in Brno, has been in charge of the choir since it began. The choir is an integrated part of cultural life in our region. Every year it holds beneficial and Christmas concerts, cooperates with the Museum of Walachian Region and other interesting choirs and musicians. "Bass G" has taken part in festivals and competitions all over the Czech Republic, e.g. in Prague, Brno, Český Krumlov, Jihlava, Ostrava, Opava, Vsetín and Otrokovice. In addition to this the choir regularly organizes concert trips abroad and since 2000 it has performed in many European countries namely Greece, Italy, Croatia, Slovakia, Hungary and Poland. "Bass G" has released four CDs with a cross-section of the choir's repertoire, the latest one is devoted to Christmas and spiritual compositions. The choir maintains a respected position among other youth choirs in the Czech Republic which is proved by its successful participation in the nationwide competition festivals Gymnasia Cantant in Brno and Opava Cantant. The choir´s greatest achievements involve reaching the Gold Belt in Gymnasia Cantant in Brno six times including the Award for the Best Performance of the Competition Composition (Gymnasia Cantant 2008) and the Gold Belt and the Special Award for the Voice Culture in Opava Cantat 2011.
